Most Tuesdays, whatever happened Friday night gets noticed Saturday morning. Somebody swings by the yard, checks the marina, does a walk-through before the crew loads up. A gap of a few hours, maybe overnight.
This Tuesday is different. For a lot of businesses, this is the first time anyone has laid eyes on the yard, the lot, or the slip since Friday afternoon. Three days is not a long weekend to a person. To an unattended trailer, it is an eternity.
Here is what that gap is actually worth, and why the first week of September deserves more attention than it usually gets.
